Funny enough, I start my Berlin blog with a post about a Dublin Restaurant. But since I haven't arrived in Berlin yet and this is definitely worth telling the world, what can you do. I finally went to 777 in Georges Street (I refer to it as the Hipster Mexican) last night, after countless failed attempts to get a table there. Since they do reservations only for groups of 6 or more, you have to stop by early in the evening to either eat immediately or put your name on the list for later, which is what I did at 7 and we got a table for 9.30. In the meantime we had drinks at No Name Bar.
House Margarita, highly recommended (haven't tried the others)
Tacos Carnitas with pork confit, salsa tomatillo, radish, cilantro, Tacos Huachinango with blackened snapper, avocado, shaved cabbage, poblana lime crema.Crisp Tortilla with yellow fin tuna sashimi, pickled cucumber, chipotle mayo, habaƱero mustard, crispy shallots. They were all awesome.
And since I wanted it all (who would have thought) I shared starters and a main with my friend. These are the Costillas, spicy guava pork ribs, sweet plantain crisps, pickled red onion and chipotle slaw. The ribs were so tender, they fell off the bone.
I am actually really really sad that I cannot come here more often. Because it was THAT good, so now I know what all the fuzz is about. From here we went for a few drinks to Pygmalion in South William Street and even though it was planned to be an Epic Party Night, where we end up wasted in Harcourt Street at 4am, we went home at 1. And I was happy, full and also a big nostalgic, since this was the last time I was going to see these awesome friends who I met first when I came to Dublin. They also gave me an awesome present, but that's a different story :)
